This project signifies a strengthening of technical and scientific expertise for Science 351’s research and innovation, allowing the leverage of crucial scientific foundations for the sustained development of new eco-friendly biomaterials for coatings applied to food, either directly or in the form of edible films, which provide enhanced resistance to chemical, physical, and microbiological degradation.

Furthermore, this operation enables Science 351 to foster a growth culture in RDI (Research, Development and Innovation) within the organisation through the development and implementation of new methodologies for product and process innovation, making them more competitive, disruptive, and sustainable. With a vision oriented towards a green or circular economy, sustainability and resource valorisation, as well as health, well-being, and quality of life, the support from this project aims to bolster the regional and national business landscape by exploring new opportunities and energising research, development, and innovation projects. These projects are in alignment with the research and innovation strategies for smart specialisation and the respective cross-cutting priorities defined for both the Centro region and on National and European levels.

Additionally, this initiative promotes the direct impact of the organisation on the priority axes defined for the Centro region, specifically in the realms of research, development and innovation, competitiveness and internationalisation of the regional economy, resource sustainability, and especially in promoting and energising both immediate and future employability.
