Sanitec project opens the door to a revolutionary and unprecedented new concept in ceramics for sanitary ware. The project aims to develop new ceramic-based materials for sanitary ware, with permanent anti-adhesion effect and antibacterial properties for increased safety, hygiene, and sustainability.
These new ceramics were developed based on inorganic materials suitable and compatible with the current industrial methods used in the ceramic industry. The ceramic glaze consists of a solid suspension for application by pistol or immersion of the parts to be treated. The materials used show a strong adhesion to the substrate and allow an increase in the hydrophobicity of the ceramic surface. The addition of molecules with antibacterial properties to the final material allow them to interact with the outer membrane of bacteria disintegrating them.
This material aggregates the potentially synergistic effect of the antibacterial and hydrophobic properties of the surface, which leads to a reduction in the concentration of bacteria on the surface of toilets, as well as a reduction in water consumption and the amount of detergents needed for cleaning it due to the self-cleaning properties of the surface.
