The agri-food sector, in particular the coffee industry, has high market competitiveness and evolution. This sector grew a consumer demand for high-quality, practical, and functional products that respect food safety practices and environmental protection.

Go Green aims to develop a disruptive product for the coffee industry – biodegradable and compostable biocapsules that can replace current market solutions based on petrochemical plastics. The goal is to produce coffee capsules, accessories and extraction equipment components through capsule residues and coffee waste to minimize the environmental impact of conventional coffee capsules.

This innovation, based on new scientific knowledge in polymeric composites, allows an environmental impact reduction associated with these products. The Go Green project aims to reduce petroleum-derived polymers and plastic usage through the reuse and valorization of coffee waste.
